Snowmaggedon 2021

The kids were praying and hoping for snow this winter, but we got more than we bargained for!

Snowmaggedon 2021 was quite the week. No school, only one day without power, thankfully we never were on water boil notice, but helped lots of friends and neighbors with no power and water leaks.

Waking up to snow the first few days was so fun for the kids. (The first day without power was chilly, but we survived. Thankfully we had a lot of firewood and spent most of the day out in the snow and by the fire). We got really good at making our faucets drip juuuuuuuust right so they wouldn't freeze yet wouldn't waste too much water. We covered our fruit trees with plastic and space heaters to save our little budding apples and attempted to save other plants. We had to clear huge icicles off our gutters and roof later in the week when it would warm up to melt during the day and then everything would ice over at night. It's crazy that for lots of places this isn't super cold, but our homes, roads, pipes, roofs, etc. aren't prepared for weather like this in Texas.

We made some good memoires, had a lot of fun, enjoyed our extra week off of school, and were so thankful our home and family were all ok.
