utah

one of my mother's day gifts was a trip to utah to see my sister.
i am so grateful for jason for watching the boys right after a long
work trip so i could go see her. it was awesome.
i miss her tons and she is one of my favorite people,
and it's so hard she lives so far away.
we had a blast with each other and her family.

we had a campfire with her family the first day i was there.
awesome views of Farmington canyon.
i love the mountains!

greatest family ever!

getting the fire started. i love how all the boys are so into it.
i was wishing my boys were there!

can you spot cam in this picture? i love his sense of adventure.
reminds me so much of grant.

oh and anneke's dog - such a great dog. i want one.

smores! and such cute kids! can't wait for my boys to come up.

another day we went to antelope island and the great salt lake.
we've both never been and it was a fun, hot, desert-y adventure.

he skipped school! and loved wading in the water.

we got to see a bison super close to the car. susan was brave, i was nervous.
he was so close, much bigger than i thought, and he was watching us
like a hawk. following the car with his beady little eyes which did NOT look friendly.

another day we did the alpine loop and heber. here's bridal veil falls.
so beautiful in the spring/summer. i have SUCH good memories of provo canyon.

we did tons of other stuff too - shopping, pedicures, even an ER visit.
took care of her chickens, hung out, went to lunch, just had a fabulous time together.
it was so great to see her and her family. can't wait to go back!

party

so we finally had chase's birthday party.
(i figured i was ok as long as i had his 4 year old party before he turned 5).
it always seems that for grant's birthday, we're waiting for it to cool down,
and for chase's we're waiting for it to warm up.
i swear it seemed it would never warm up.
i like outdoor parties usually at the park.
but chase's was pretty low key.
all he wanted was donuts, candles, balloons, and girls.
i can handle that on a weekend.

i swear all you need to get that kid is candy...

brothers are the best.

pin the eyeball on the monster of course....

mom can you tie these to me so i can fly to the moon?
(i love how our cat is thwarting his efforts.)

happy birthday chase! we love you!
