Georgia Trip

 2nd trip of the summer, visiting my parents in Georgia! It was so good to see Grandpa and Grandma. My mom is doing really well in her memory care facility. It was so good to see her.

We helped my Dad go through a lot of her stuff, and it was such a rollercoaster of emotions. I felt like I was invading her privacy at some points, and it felt so sad too. But, it was also wonderful to see all the things she kept, all the fun letters from her kids and grandkids, drawings we made, and all the school photos from when we were growing up. And of course, all the student letters she received, which were a LOT. So many students expressing how much she changed their life or influenced them in some way. 💕

We had a great trip, ate lots of good food, caught fireflies and toads, and spent some good quality time with Grandpa. The only bad part was coming home to our carpet feeling wet. Never a good sign! Our AC leaked into our master bedroom wall while we were gone and it spread to the carpet. UGH! So thankful though for good friends that are helping us clean it up!

First Summer trip - Nauvoo IL and St Louis MO

 Happy 4th of July! We feel so grateful to live here. First trip of the summer was visiting Nauvoo, IL and St Louis, MO. We had such a fun time (though we greatly missed Grant who is still doing spring semester! ) We loved seeing the pioneer sights in Nauvoo, we weaved, made bricks, rode a wagon pulled by oxen and draft horses, saw the temple, and the new temple visitors center. We walked the trail of hope and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Nauvoo (despite the heat wave!) And we saw fireflies! We then traveled to St Louis to see our cousin and enjoy the City Museum, the Magic House, and then a great firework show under the Arch. Chase was excited to see Ludacris and Zedd that night at the concert. Another heat wave with lots and lots of sweating, but we still had an amazing time. On our drive home we stopped in Texarkana for the night, and happened upon another (more hometown) firework show that was 43 minutes long! Happy 4th of July!!
