this summer, we have two trips planned to grandma and grandpa's in Georgia.
Jason has 2 two week trips left, and we might as well make memories in
Georgia while he's gone. this was our first trip when he went to
Australia/Singapore. i can't believe he's been gone 7 weeks since January.
crazy.
the boys are getting so good at traveling for 15 hours
in a single day. i'm so proud of them.
i love the memories they get to make with their grandparents.
i hope they'll cherish these when they get older.
i didn't get to have memories like these.
most of my grandparents had passed away when i was a baby.
when we first arrived, the boys wanted to go seining with grandpa.
they were so excited. (though grant was sad they were going to preserve
the fish they caught). they always have fun doing "exploring" with grandpa
on the back of their property.
no only grandparents, but cousins live in georgia too.
with 5 boys all about the same age, there's always a lot of fun.
i'm always SO impressed with my dad's garden.

the next day we took everyone to the lake my parents live by. it was beautiful!

no activity is complete without a science lesson.

my dad and his cool boat. i got a chance to row, and it wasn't as hard as i thought.
took some serious upper body strength though! and there wasn't even any wind!

the boys decided they wanted a ride in the boat. so we piled them all in.
since it was so hot, the boys asked grandpa if they could jump out.
this became a favorite activity of the day. grandpa was so nice and rowed out about
30 times and let them jump off and swim to shore. they were giggling and laughing so hard.
they had so much fun.
while grandpa was taking a break, they made a "waterslide." i love how creative they are.
another science lesson with a soft shell turtle we found.
poor guy was dead from a spear wound.
and then back to the rowing and jumping!!!
the boys got really good by the end. they knew which boy went in what order, and maddox
would be last and push the boat out before jumping in.
grandpa and I didn't even have to do anything at this point. it was great.
another day we went to the science museum. we had fun at the new whale exhibit.
the kids portion of the museum is always the most fun.
while we were downtown we saw a dream car exhibit at the art museum.
the guards there obviously had never seen 4 small boys.
they seemed so nervous and were following me around. :)
one of the best parts about grandma and grandpa's house is that you can have
nothing planned and still have the best time. they have tons of forest, a tree house,
a arena of dirt, gravel piles, and grass and trees. it's really a little boys paradise.
oh and 3 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 horses. my boys love it.
oh and a tractor!
chase was too scared to drive the tractor, but then saw grant do it and then got jealous.

oh and sprinklers! and hoses! and a slipnslide! non stop fun!
the boys would often sip lemonade, sit on the back porch,
and talk about what they'd do next. the cutest thing ever.
grant was obsessed with how many bees were buzzing around the front yard.
so one morning, he got a flower, and sat out there holding it waiting for a bee to land on it.
he was out there a while, but i don't think he ever got a bee to believe he was a flower.
and chores! there's always chores to help with. here they are helping get manure
for grandpa's garden. the best part are the worms.
another chore - dragging the ring to we can ride the horses.
other random things we did - pretend to be Tarzan (all fun and games until the vine breaks)

i think the boys are excited to go back in a few weeks. this time jason will fly home
from Turkey to Atlanta and he'll stay with us for a while before we all drive home.
it will be more fun to have dad with us next time!
