Thanksgiving! We love having a week off and my parents to visit.
We are so grateful they make the drive and come and see us.
The boys count down the days to see Grandpa and Grandma.
We decided to exchange Christmas presents. It was fun to open
a few presents early and the boys got to play with them for the week
they were off school.
The first few days it was cold, so we made fires.
We do Thanksgiving on Tuesday so we can eat leftovers all week. Here the boys are
learning to stuff the turkey. They were a little grossed out....
I must say, I'm SO grateful Grandpa does this for us!!!
We saw this hilarious picture on TV of Julia Childs holding a turkey this way so we
tried to re-create it....hers was much better.
I missed shots of the the table and all the food but it came out great - stuffing, mashed potatoes,
salad, rolls, turkey, martinelli's, pumpkin cake...i'm sure i'm missing a few.
We had the missionaries over and Grandpa made them try pickled pigs feet which
he had all the time with his Dad growing up. It was fun to have the missionaries
here and eat some good food!
That night we played a jelly bean game. You spin, and then have to eat the jellybean color
the wheel lands on - but it's a trick jelly bean. Like the green ones are either snot or lime.
But there's no way to tell if you got a good flavor or a bad one. The brown ones are
chocolate or dog food...you get the idea. The boys LOVE it and Grandpa
was a great sport. We got some great videos of the gross ones....
One nice day we went to see battleship Texas.
We've never been and I thought my parents would like it.
The guns were awesome to use. Those guys must have had some huge arms.

I can't even imagine this being your bed for a few months at a time.
We met an older gentlemen who told us he'd slept on beds like this. He said the top bunk
was always the coveted one because a lot of men drank and then got sick, and you
didn't want to be on the bottom bunk when he leaned over. Crazy!
I thought it was really interesting to see how these ships were run.
It was a beautiful day and it was fun to see the views from the top of the ship.

I don't know where Grant learned to photo-bomb, but he cracks me up...
After seeing the ship, we went to the beach nearby. We walked the pier,
dug in the sand, and just saw the water. It was a beautiful windy night.
The next few days we went fishing a few times. The boys were so excited.
We tried a place in Katy where they stocked rainbow trout, but didn't catch anything.
No one there was catching so I'm not sure what the problem was. It was still fun to
try and run around and play and be outside.
Chase caught this tiny fish and he was SO thrilled! He danced around saying he was
the greatest fishermen in the whole world. It was so cute.
After we couldn't get the hook out, we just threw him back.
Chase loved to hold him and throw him back in!
Grandpa was trying out his new pole and Grandma gave it a go while he was helping the boys...
A few days later at East End park, Grant caught this catfish. He was thrilled!!!!
