February break, what a grand adventure! We decided to camp in the winter, in hopes that it'd be "cooler." Um, we definitely got more than we bargained for - it was in the 30's during the day and in the 20's at night! The final morning we woke up to ICE on our tents! EEK! We had a blast though at Caprock Canyons State Park. We've never seen so much wildlife before - the best being the bison! and the roadrunners, prairie dogs, bunnies, deer, and mountain bluebirds - all within walking distance from our campsite. The first day a herd of bison came walking through the empty campsite right next to us - and stopped dead when they saw us. We all quickly scrambled behind the picnic table, and after a few minutes of them checking us out, they moved on their way. WHEW! We hiked and enjoyed the beautiful canyon views. We had fires, cooked lots of smores and hot chocolate, and just enjoyed being away from normal life for a bit. We had a great time!
