Grant gets baptized

it's a very special time in our family when you turn 8, because you get
baptized as well as start cub scouts AND have a birthday.

it was a very special day for all of us. chase kept saying
"boy i wish i was grant!" it was super cute.
we were all very excited about grant's choice.

we were also very excited grandma and grandpa and aunt susan could celebrate
with us. they came for the week and we did some fun things (despite the torrential
rain we got for a few days while they were here.)

grant so excited to go to scouts!
(his forced smile is hiding the excitement i swear)

grandpa and chase and i walked around east end park in the rain
it was an adventure! we actually didn't get rained on too much.

the natural science museum! here they are in a shark cage
(which is funny because grandma would NEVER do this in real life)

watching a video about oil drilling

the paleontology hall! my favorite part

one of my favorite pictures....

the boys love rolling this 5,000 lb ball around...
though it started pouring so we had to come inside.

an opal from the gem vault. jason loved the opals in australia, so i took this for him
(the picture, not the opal. though i wouldn't mind having one like this...)
the boys loved looking at all the gems and minerals in the dark rooms

chase fooling around while waiting for grandpa to read about the battleship...

we watched a lot of movies while it rained...

and played in the rain of course....

making treats the day before the baptism

the hummingbirds while my parents were here were NUTS!
there were often 5-7 all at the feeder at once. it was crazy!
i think it had something to do with the rain since we've never seen them like this...

jet skiing! our friends let us borrow the jet skis once the rain let up and we had some fun....

took some walks after the rain to see the bayou...

his baptism day! what a fun day. the night before was scary. there was a septic
leak/backup and the font was filled with something questionable...and the smell in the
church was AWFUL. we thought it was going to have to be moved to another building,
another time, call everyone, etc. but it was cleaned up in time. hooray! prayers were
answered. besides being a little warm and just a tiny stinky, it went off great.
we were so appreciative to all to helped us and were involved and came to support Grant.

we were so proud of him and it was such a special day.
