the anniversary

monday is the anniversary of Jason cutting off the tip of his finger on his table saw. for those of you who remember, it was quite the traumatizing experience. the past 12 months, i've been telling jason we need a new saw if he's going to keep woodworking - one called the sawstop which will not allow your finger to be cut off. it's expensive, but the technology is amazing, and the peace of mind it would bring me would be priceless. this entire time he's been telling me we don't need it, he'll just "be more careful." well, yesterday, i'm folding laudry, listening to music, while jason and grant are outside. i'm enjoying some toddler-free time when grant runs into the room saying "daddy owie! daddy owie!" and right behind him is jason holding his hands, COVERED in blood. my heart practically stops and i almost faint. turns out, jason cut deeply into the index finger of his good hand while pruning the large bushes in our front yard. an activity i thought was danger-free. apparently not.

needless to say, i'm convinced more than ever we need that saw. that little flicker of doubt i had was completely snuffed out yesterday while bandaging jason up.

p.s. today all grant can talk about is "daddy bleeding." great.
