st louis - city museum and children's museum

another day we went downtown to the city museum. you go inside and there are no maps or signs anywhere (they say they don't believe in those). it's all just a bunch of sculptures and tunnels and slides made from recycled materials (or even trash maybe). kids are supposed to just go explore. it was fun, a little nerve racking though at times. there are 13 story slides, anything you think you might be able to climb you can, and we lost grant once or twice. the boys saw a magic show, rode a train with a little person for a conductor, and ran around in a giant sized skate park. a cool experience for sure.

so you can climb on the roof to the top of this dome.
grant wanted to try it but then got scared halfway up there
so jason had to go and get him

there's a Ferris wheel on the roof of the building
very cool views of the city

jon and i wanted to try to climb this after seeing everyone else do it
it wasn't as fun as i thought. that rebar is not forgiving!

that night we met up with some cousins for dinner.
great memories!

next stop - the magic house. the children's museum of st. louis.
VERY COOL place.
we could have spent every day here. the boys loved it.
everything from science to building to learning...it was awesome.

and of course we had to go to steak n shake...

st louis - the zoo and the arch

the zoo - a fabulous FREE zoo.

we bought lots of popsicles since it was so hot
and poured water on their heads

another day we visited the arch. this was the first time for me and the boys to go up in it. you ride in this little space capsule to the top and look out of these teeny windows. very cool, a little bit scary for me.

we always like to walk right up to it and touch it

view from the top

going down!

on the steps below the arch.
best firework show ever on july 4th

yay for cousins!

St Louis Trip - August

we met jason's family in st. louis for an awesome get-together. it was hot, but so fun. his extended family also lives there and it was great to see everyone.

every day was fun and busy, so it's going to take a few posts for all the pictures.

first - peach and apple picking. Eckert's Orchards. yum.
